“I spoke with a young man at a train station this afternoon, and he shared that he thought yesterday was going to be the last day of his life. He believed he was going to die. His office had extensive damage and he had to dig himself out and his colleagues as well. We talked about the joy of helping and saving others, yet, at the same time, dealing with personal fears and a sense of helplessness when things around us seem to be out of control. Yesterday things were shaking so badly there was no control. I asked him why he chose to sacrificially help his friends, he struggled with an answer.
I opened a tract, a Creation to Christ presentation. When I had finished, he smiled and said, ‘I really understand!’ It was like a puzzle piece he had been searching for just slid into place. He took the tract and bowed deeply as masses of people were walking by on their way home.
Do you believe in God moments? While the aftershocks were bouncing us around and thousands of people were stranded and trying to figure out what to do, one brief conversation becomes a puzzle piece that is intended to fill an eternal void. God’s promises are true! How could anyone do anything else but proclaim His name and watch Him work?”
Editor’s note: Please pray for this young man that his head understanding would become “heart” understanding and acceptance; also pray for divine appointments missionaries and relief workers are having throughout Japan. May many come to Christ as the Gospel is shared…
God bless you all, and strengthen your work among the pagans, so that you can lead the nation to Christ. I sure would like to be there helping you, now.
Our children’s group read this story and prayed for the young man in it tonight. We try to read a missionary’s story or profile each week and pray and/or write to them if we have an address.
I would love to have a better resource for finding missionaries with whom my kids can connect and pray for. Any suggestions?
